Emergency Management Program

Emergency Services & Preparedness in Seguin

There are organizations with highly trained men and women working 24/7 to keep our community safe. The main local services for Seguin residents include:

  • Fire Department – Responds to fires, rescues, hazardous situations, and provides fire safety education.
  • Police / OPP – Handles crime, public safety, and traffic incidents.
  • Paramedics / EMS – Provides urgent medical care and transport.
  • Search and Rescue – Locates and rescues people in dangerous areas.
  • Emergency Management – Plans, prepares, responds to, and recovers from disasters.

Other support groups, like public works or the Red Cross, also assist during major emergencies.

Emergency Reminder

Call 911 for all emergencies. This ensures the appropriate emergency services are dispatched immediately.

Seguin Township is committed to ensuring its Emergency Management Team has the knowledge and training needed to handle large-scale emergencies effectively.

Our Emergency Management Program is built around five core components:

  • Prevention – Actions taken to prevent emergencies from happening.
  • Mitigation – Actions taken to reduce or eliminate the effects of emergencies that cannot be prevented.
  • Preparedness – Measures taken in advance to ensure an effective response to hazards.
  • Response – Actions taken during an emergency.
  • Recovery – Steps taken to return the community to normal after an emergency.

Emergencies can happen at any time. While our Emergency Management Team works hard to provide support and relief, residents also play a key role by following simple safety steps.

The best defense in an emergency is information and knowledge. Together, we can keep Seguin a safe and resilient community!

You should be ready to care for yourself and your family for at least 72 hours. In a disaster, emergency workers may take time to reach you while helping those in urgent need.

You can take simple steps to be prepared:

  • Plan your escape routes at home and in your neighbourhood.
  • Designate a meeting place for your family.
  • Prepare an emergency kit for home and car.
